I'm a mother to two adult childrenand Nana to a five litles. I like to create... always have, always will ... whether sewing, painting, baking, cooking, decorating or, yes, photography. All these activities have grown out of a curiosity to see "if I could do it" first ... and second, because on a one-income salary I didn't have the money to pay someone to do such things for me. Even if I had the money, I don't believe it would have changed my desire to tackle something new, creatively speaking. I'm crafty that way, and I'm in good company, as the women on my mother's side were very industrious with their hands too.
I purchased my first SLR camera, a Canon Rebel, in 2009 as I wanted some better photos before our son graduated from high school. Before that I used a Kodak which was a really good camera despite its limitations. Photography was and still is at times a bit overwhelming for me. There's so much to keep learning, whether it be the mechanics of the camera itself, how to properly compose a picture, or the software editing and processing that follows the shot. I still have a lot to learn, but looking back to where I first started, I see that progress has been made. I feel as if I get better each time I pick up the camera. Even though there is still a lot of education ahead of me, I really enjoy looking through the lens and capturing both the endearing family moments that should never be forgotten and the simple beauty of God's creations that should never be overlooked.
Of all the things I've done in my life, the most rewarding will always be the job of Mom and Nana. Grandchildren are surely a joy! The Lord has been gracious enough to allow us to be close to our family. What a joy and a treasure to be a part of their lives on a regular basis. In a physical world so tainted by sin, it really doesn't get any better than that.
